About Tammy

I always ask clients why they are in my office, so I feel it’s only fair for me to share my story too.

Many years ago, my only child Tony was struck by a car. After 8 hours of brain surgery and 8 days in a coma, I had to make the heart-wrenching decision to disconnect him from life support. He was only two years old. I was 22, and faced with the looming prospect of somehow piecing my life back together.

That process was far from quick, as I initially chose a destructive path as I dealt with my loss. I was living constantly with pain, both the obvious mental and emotional duress as well as extreme lower back pain that was the physical manifestation. When I met my husband Noel five years later, I was finally ready and motivated to search for my relief.

I sampled many healing modalities along the way, but it wasn't until I acknowledged the spiritual and emotional aspects of my health that I found any success. A new modality, neuro-emotional technique (NET) cured my back pain in just two-and-a-half months. It was then that I realized how important emotions are, how we can easily turn them inside our bodies by neglecting our feelings and not listening to that quiet voice inside.

I learned that if we bury our emotions, we take the risk of causing energy blocks and disease within the body. We also take the risk of never knowing who we are, of not being able to answer "Who are you?", "What do you love?", "What do you feel?", "What do you want in life?" Finding our hearts' desires often requires going deep inside our bodies and hearts.

So I opened a Reiki practice in 1999 and poured by self into learning tools to further help myself and hopefully to help others. I had started on a path of fulfilling my own desires and not expecting others to do it for me. Although I am still on that journey, I have been passing along emotional awareness, energy work, and empowerment tools to my clients for the past five years.

I am also immersed in the concept of Global Caring through my work with The Cunningham Foundation, founded by myself and Noel with the mission of helping the courageous people of the impoverished areas of Ethiopia to help themselves. We have for more than 10 years supported the efforts of Project Mercy, which champions the development of self-worth through sanitation, self-sufficiency, education, and health care.
